Hayao Miyazaki Wins Oscar with The Boy and The Heron After 22 Years

Hayao Miyazaki won Academy Awards (Oscar) for Best Animated Film after 22 years, the hit Spirited Away in 2002. His latest work receives positive responses globally. Some movie critics give good reviews in the media.

With The Boy and The Heron, Miyazaki successfully beat Elemental: Forces of Nature, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Nimona, and Robot Dreams.

Miyazaki played a big role in the animation industry as he founded Studio Ghibli, a film and animation studio with Isao Takahata. Since it was formed, Studio Ghibli has already produced many masterpiece movies, including Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, The Wind Rises, and many more.

In his golden years, Miyazaki still be able to make another masterpiece. The Boy and The Heron was released with an unusual marketing strategy, without a trailer and details of movie information.

The Boy and The Heron follows a boy named Mahito who has lost his mother. During his grief, Mahito must continue life, no matter how hard the situation is.

With his father working in an aircraft factory, they move to another city. Mahito begins a new life with his step mom who is also his aunt. Mahito seems to find it hard to adapt. As time goes by, he meets a Heron. He never knew that his life could change forever ever since.
